He grew up as an orphan, his father died while he was six. Ash Shihaab ibn al Tabbaak raised him.
He busied himself with seeking knowledge at a young age, he memorized the Qur-aan before the age of eight and studied a number of Islaamic texts.
He traveled to ash Shaam, al Hijaaz, Yemen, India, Morrocow before settling in his country; Egypt.
He had more than 150 teachers, they were compiled by a number of scholars.
Amongst the books he authored:
Ibn Iyaas stated in ‘The History of Egypt’; ‘As Suyootee authored more the
600 books.’
He authored books on a number of sciences; Tafseer, Hadeeth, Fiqh, Arabic
Grammar, History, Adab, Usool, Mustalah amongst others.

نشأ يتيماً، إذ مات أبوه وهو ابن ست سنين، فكفله وصيه الشهاب ابن الطباخ
اشتغل بطلب العلم في وقتٍ مبكـرٍ فحفظ القرآن وعمـره دون ثمان، واستظهر عدداً من المتون
سافر إلى الشام والحجاز واليمن والهند والمغرب والتكـرور ثم استقر في بلده مصر
يبلغ عدد أساتذته نحو 150 أستاذاً
بعض مؤلفاته
ذكر ابن إياس في "تاريخ مصر" أن مصنفات السيوطي بلغت ستمائة مصنف.
كانت مؤلفاته في علوم متعددة كالتفسير والحديث والفقه والنحو والتاريخ
والأدب والأصول والمصطلح وغيرها من العلوم.
