3 Ways to Show Gratitude to Allah

...Shukr (Gratitude to Allah), can be expressed in three ways;

1. with the tongue,
2. with the heart,
3. with and the limbs.

Being grateful with the heart is by firmly believing that a favor/blessing is from Allah. So a person would love Allah for His blessing/favors. When someone feels that a favor/blessing is from Allah the Glorified, that person would love Allah, because people are naturally inclined towards those who bestow favor upon them.

As far as Shukr with the tongue, it is expressed by speaking about Allah’s favors. Not by being boastful, but being thankful.

And proclaim the blessings of your Lord.

As far as Shukr with the limbs; it is expressed by worshiping/being obedient to Allah, and using a favor/blessing for what it was intended for. Indeed this is how Shukr is expressed.

Sincerity must be noted here, due to Allah the glorifieds statement:

And be grateful to Me

Meaning being sincere to Allah the Elevated, because Shukr is a form of obedience, and obedience to Allah must be sincere as Allah stated:

So whoever hopes for the meeting with his Lord, let them perform righteous actions, and not associate anyone in the worship of their Lord.
