Just as it is upon the person fasting to preserve the obligatory acts towards Allāh; the five prayers in its prescribed times with the congregation (is also obligatory), because some of the people sleep and say I’m fasting and the time for prayers passes him and he doesn’t pray, unless if he wakes up at the end of the day makes wudhu and prays, but it is not accepted because its passed the prescribed time without a valid excuse because he intentionally slept. As for the one whose sleep overcame him and it is not from his habits to sleep however his sleep overcame him then he is excused. However, if he planned to make his sleep during the day and staying up plate during the night, as is the case with many nowadays, then there is no prayer for them, even if he prays, because he intentionally did it outside its prescribed time. How can he fast while he isn’t praying? The prayer is more emphasized than the fasting. The prayer is the second pillar of Islam. As for fasting it is the fourth pillar of Islam. So let the Muslim preserve his prayers. “Those who offer their Ṣalāt (prayers) with all solemnity and full submissiveness.” (23:2) “Guard strictly (five obligatory) As-Salawat (the prayers) especially the middle Ṣalāt (i.e. the best prayer - 'Asr).” (2:238) The prayer is more important than the fasting. So let him preserve it in its prescribed times with the congregation. As for sleeping, then let him make it during the times between the prayers. And it is upon him to fear Allāh in regards to that and to take care of his religion and his fasting and his prayers so that his fasting is sound, beneficial and not merely thirst and hunger without any benefit.
Have Taqwa of Allāh oh slaves of Allāh. I seek refuge in Allāh from the accursed Shayṭān, “O you who believe! Observing As-Saum (the fasting) is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you, that you may become Al-Muttaqūn (the pious) [Observing Saum (fasts)] for a fixed number of days, but if any of you is ill or on a journey, the same number (should be made up) from other days. And as for those who can fast with difficulty, (e.g. an old man, etc.), they have (a choice either to fast or) to feed a Miskīn (poor person) (for every day). But whoever does good of his own accord, it is better for him. And that you fast, it is better for you if only you know. The month of Ramadan in which was revealed the Qur'an, a guidance for mankind and clear proofs for the guidance and the criterion (between right and wrong). So whoever of you sights (the crescent on the first night of) the month (of Ramadan i.e. is present at his home), he must observe Saum (fasts) that month, and whoever is ill or on a journey, the same number [of days which one did not observe Saum (fasts) must be made up] from other days. Allah intends for you ease, and He does not want to make things difficult for you. (He wants that you) must complete the same number (of days), and that you must magnify Allah [i.e. to say Takbīr (Allāhu-Akbar; Allah is the Most Great) on seeing the crescent of the months of Ramadan and Shawwal] for having guided you so that you may be grateful to Him. (2:183-185)
May Allāh bless me and you with the Magnificent Qur'ān and benefit us with what it contains from the explanations and the wise remembrance. This is all I have to say. May Allāh forgive me and you and all the Muslims from every sin. So seek His forgiveness. Verily He is All-Forgiving and All-Merciful.
