It was said to Abu Hazim, Salamah ibn Dinar – may Allah have mercy upon him:
Abu Hazim! Do you not see that prices have risen?
He said:
And why does that sadden you? Indeed the One who was providing for us when things were cheaper, will be the One providing for us when they are more expensive.
Hilyat al-Awliyah: 3/239
Allah – the Glorified - has taken it upon Himself to provide; so there is not a living thing except that upon Allah is its provision. Therefore, a servant should put his trust in ar-Razzaaq (the Provider) and seek provision from Him, and know that no soul will expire until it completes its provision, and that one should not be saddened except when his Deen is afflicted.
