Wahb ibn Munnabih was asked:
"Isn’t La Ilaha Ila Allah the key to Jannah?" [1]
He responded: "But of course, but there is not a key except that it has ridges, so if you bring a key with [the correct] ridges, [the door] would be opened for you, otherwise it would not be opened."
Meaning that simply saying the statement of Tawheed, without what it necessitates, without its conditions, is like a key without ridges, and only a key with ridges can open a door.

قيل لوهب بن منبه : أليس مفتاح الجنة لا إله إلا الله؟[1]
قال: بلى، ولكن ما من مفتاح إلا وله أسنان، فإن جئت بمفتاح له أسنان فتح لك، وإلا لم يفتح.
يعني: أن مجرد كلمة التوحيد بدون ما تقتضيه وبدون ما تتطلبه فهي مثل المفتاح الذي ليس له أسنان، والمفتاح إنما يفتح إذا كان له أسنان.
