This book is from the final works of al Imaam al Albaanee. In his introduction he clarifies in detail the correct stance concerning al Haafidh ibn Hibbaan in his authentications and criticisms of the narrators. He removed the ambiguity surrounding Ibn Hibbaans’ methodology in declaring narrators to be trustworthy or critisising them. He affirms that he is too indulgent in declaring individuals to be trustworthy and too harsh in his criticism citing numerous examples.
As per his methodology, he does not make a statement in which he has no Salaf for. He also clarifies the error of those who spoke on the issue of Ibn Hibbaan and his rulings upon the narrators.
He also clarifies a very important point, it is that ibn Hibbaan had a methodology in authoring ‘Ath Thiqaat’ that is different from his ‘Saheeh’ and provides numerous examples for this as well.
