There is no differing amongst the people of knowledge and historians and all other scholars that he - صلى الله عليه وسلم - is:
Muhammad ibn ‘Abdullaah ibn ‘Abdul Muttalib ibn Haashim ibn ‘Abd Manaaf ibn Qusay ibn Kilaab ibn Murah ibn Ka’b ibn Lu-ay ibn Ghaalib ibn Fihr ibn Maalik ibn an Nadr ibn Kinaanah ibn Khuzaymah ibn Mudrikah ibn Ilyaas ibn Mudar ibn Nizaar ibn Ma’d ibn ‘Adnaan.
There is no difference of opinion in this, the Messenger himself stated that this was his lineage up to an Nizaar ibn Ma’d ibn ‘Adnaan in a number of Ahaadeeth, and what we already mentioned from the consensus of the scholars and historians is sufficient and all praise is due to Allaah.
There is a difference of opinion concerning his lineage between ‘Adnaan up to Isma’eel ibn Ibraheem, may they both be in peace, and between Ibraaheem up to Saam ibn Nooh, but I do not see the need of mentioning it here due to the many conflicting reports that do not lead to anything substantial. With this differing however, they have unanimously agreed that Nizaar – with all its families – which are Rabee’ah and Mudar, are from the offspring of Isma’eel, and we have already mentioned the most authentic reports of his lineage to Aadam [1].
The Messenger’s - صلى الله عليه وسلم -mother is: Aaminah bint Wahb ibn ‘Abdul Manaaf ibn Zahrah ibn Kilaab ibn Murah al Qurashiyyah az Zahriyyah. She joins with ‘Abdullaah [her husband] in lineage in Kilaab.[2]
